Hi, I’m Rory
Thank you for making it this far and for taking the time to check out my work.
Growing up in Scotland I attended a small boarding school, where I grew a distaste for the idea of fitting in. After moving to the US, and following my graduation from Northeastern University with qualifications in videography, photography, and graphic design, I decided to stay (fortunately thanks to a Green Card). I began my career as a graphic designer at an insurance company as part of a small marketing team. While learning a lot, I craved a higher level of creativity. It’s later, on dance floors worldwide I found my love for character, quirks, and nuance, solidifying music as a core pillar of my life. If normality is code, what makes you the glitch? Those irregularities are what drew me into seeking and capturing such special shared moments. More importantly, it’s why I love working with people, learning what it is that makes them unique. Production has introduced me to fields and contacts that constantly surprise me and I hope in 10 years that nothing has changed. A solid understanding and comfort in top-of-the-line equipment and software have allowed me to be a sponge in many scopes. I’ve loved exploring fashion, emerging tech, and hospitality while constantly developing my deep-rooted love for music. As part of the production team at Wasted Talent, I learned to operate as part of a larger brand and learned a lot about the operation of online and print publications, while building chemistry with colleagues at Mixmag and Kerrang! that are friends and colleagues today. Since then I have had the opportunity to work with brands from Samsung to Yamaha.
UNSTBL is my personal brand. While it helps me while bringing together my circle of incredibly talented colleagues for certain jobs, and gives my small Brooklyn studio a name, it also allows me to develop new skills and showcase them. I appreciate your support and love all feedback. Although working primarily out of NY, I’m always looking for an adventure and love that work sometimes requires me to travel. My goal is to elevate the true identity of the client (individual or brand) and help create engagement between an audience and those at the top of their fields, who have so much to share and need the ability to do so.
Besides music, I’m passionate about fashion, skiing, skating and where possible, making the environments I move through a little better than when I found them. It’s your turn now, I hope you reach out, I’d love to hear your story!
